Why do stores put up christmas stuff for sale now on Nov. 1?

I went to walmart. And they tore down all the halloween and fall decorations. and they were putting up christmas decorations today! the first of november??? its still way too early for that. don't you agree its still supposed to be more fall stuff for thanksgiving? Why do stores put up christmas stuff for sale now on Nov. 1?
Our Walmart took down the Halloween stuff and put it half off on price, but the Fall style stuff is still up and will be until the day after Thanksgiving. Then it will go on sale too. They have started putting Christmas things up as well. It is suppose to start getting people into the spirit of Christmas and with the economy so slow, I would imagine they are trying to encourage people to spend. Why do stores put up christmas stuff for sale now on Nov. 1?
They brought stuff out earlier this year so people still buy but can buy earlier, and fewer items like every paycheck instead of all at once.

And there is really nothing to put in the Halloween aisles place, and most fall stuff is going on sale (Thanksgiving stuff) because people pack that up with Halloween stuff, so they don't need much room. They also are getting alot of Christmas stuff in (its only in 54) days and need the room to put it. Stores do not like having ';empty'; aisles. So they need something where the Halloween stuff is. If you think about it, as soon as Valentines is over - Easter stuff is out and then after Easter its Fourth of July stuff. They just have to keep it in stock.
Most department stores have deadlines for putting up the seasonal merchandise these deadlines are set by corporate offices. They want to get as many sales as possible and the merchandise they order needs to be gone by Christmas to make these sales. Most of the stores have inventory right after the Holidays so that is another reason to push sales.

It does seem like it gets earlier each year.
Not really. Most people start early for Christmas because its easier on them and their wallets to buy a bit at a time. Fall stuff starts coming out in the summer...at least where I live so its perfectly normal to see Christmas things for November 1st. Christmas is pretty much the biggest holiday of the year and the biggest money making holiday of the year so no doubt stores will start going Christmas. It doesnt mean you have to start buying it and while it might bother you to see, some of us such as myself have been out buying already and love to enjoy the holiday season as long as I can. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
Well halloween is over now. No point for them to still have it up. Plus, a lot of people celebrate Christmas and many decorations are put up. To get the house to look good, it takes a long process. During the process, some of the decoration might not work so they'll need to buy it. That's basically the point, they just want to sell the christmas products for those who are early decorators!
yea i was at walmart today and they had alll there halloween candy already like 75% off.....and they were playing Xmas music.....repeatedly lol and had xmas trees up i think its to early also i usually wait to put my tree up after thanksgiving
Most stores hardly acknowledge Thanksgiving. I don't think it's too soon for Christmas stuff because when u look up it will be here before u know it.

CVS has had their Christmas stuff up since like Oct 12.
They always like to be ahead so they will be ready before you.
